Bike, 3-Wheeler, Tata Ace or Pickup: Which Vehicle Should You Book?

By the Parcilo Team••6 min read

Booking a vehicle that is too small means a second trip; booking one that is too big means paying for space you do not use. Here is how to pick the right one for what you are sending, in under a minute.

Start with three questions

  • How heavy is it? Weight decides the vehicle class more than anything else.
  • How big is it? A light item can still be too long or too wide for a rider bag.
  • How many pieces? Ten small cartons behave like one large load.

2-wheeler: small, light and urgent

A 2-wheeler is the fastest way to move something small across the city. It weaves through traffic and narrow lanes and goes straight from pickup to drop.

Book one for documents, keys, food, medicines, phones, clothes, gifts and client samples — anything that fits a rider bag of roughly 40 × 40 × 40 cm. If you have to think about whether it fits, it probably needs a bigger vehicle.

3-wheeler EV or CNG cargo: cartons and wholesale runs

A 3-wheeler loading auto such as a Piaggio Ape or Mahindra Treo Zor has a covered deck of about 5.5 × 4.2 ft. It is the right choice when the load is too big for a bike but does not need a truck.

Typical loads are cartons for a shop, wholesale market purchases, FMCG restocking, textile rolls, a small appliance or a few pieces of furniture. Electric and CNG vehicles also keep the fare low.

Tata Ace (Chota Hathi): household goods and 1 BHK moves

The Tata Ace is India’s most popular small goods vehicle, with a bed of about 7 × 4.8 ft. A fridge, washing machine, sofa set, mattresses or the contents of a 1 BHK fit comfortably.

Ask for porters if nobody can help with loading, and for a tarpaulin in the monsoon.

8ft pickup: long and heavy material

An 8ft pickup such as the Bolero Maxi has a longer open bed (about 8.2 × 5.2 ft) and carries heavier loads. Book it for plywood sheets, steel, tiles, pipes, construction fittings and machinery.

Quick reference

  • Documents, food, medicines, small parcels → 2-wheeler
  • Cartons, wholesale goods, a small appliance → 3-wheeler cargo
  • Fridge, washing machine, furniture, 1 BHK → Tata Ace
  • Plywood, steel, tiles, machinery → 8ft pickup
  • Full 2 or 3 BHK with packing → Packers & movers

Still unsure? Compare the fares

Enter your pickup and drop in the Parcilo fare estimator: it prices every vehicle for your exact route at once, together with each vehicle’s capacity. If two vehicles fit, the cheaper one is usually the right call.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I send a TV on a 2-wheeler?

Small items in a box that fits the rider bag are fine, but a TV is fragile and usually too wide. Book a 3-wheeler or a Tata Ace so it can travel upright and protected.

Is a Tata Ace enough for a 1 BHK move?

Usually yes. For a 2 or 3 BHK, or if you need packing and furniture dismantling, book packers and movers instead.
